Event Description:
The Center for Texas Studies at TCU and the Fort Worth Library present:
From Tea Cakes to Tamales with Nola McKey, author

Join us for a special journey through Texas food history with Nola McKey, author of the new cookbook, From Tea Cakes to Tamales. McKey and three recipe contributors from the Dallas-Fort Worth area--Julia Ann Huddleston Moseley of Springtown, Courtney Braddock of Aledo, and Lareatha Clay of Dallas--will share memories of food enjoyed by generations of their families. Come learn how you too can preserve the stories behind your heirloom recipes. We will have tea cakes samples on hand and a book signing follows the program. Don't miss it!

A former senior editor at Texas Highways, Nola McKey wrote about scores of Texas subjects during her 18 years on staff. She also edited Cooking with Texas Highways. In her 2016 book, From Tea Cakes to Tamales: Third-Generation Texas Recipes, she focuses on three of her favorite topics—food, family, and the traditions that connect them.
