School of Interdisciplinary Studies

Visit Department Website

The world's most pressing problems—from climate change to global inequality—are too complex to be solved using the tools from any one area of expertise.

TCU's School of Interdisciplinary Studies tackles such challenges through integrating multiple perspectives and methods. We build bridges that connect experts, ideas, and communities and foster lateral collaboration to draw upon the expertise and innovations of multiple disciplines.

Students engaged in interdisciplinary studies learn best practices for collaboration, develop creativity, flexibility, and empathy, as they refine their ability and desire to see things from another's point of view. Studies show that interdisciplinary studies, as a model of the liberal arts in action, are highly effective academic preparation for the twentieth-first century workplace.
