Beyond the Semester: Using Open Pedagogy to Make Learning Have a Lasting Impact
This 2-session workshop will introduce faculty to the concept of open pedagogy and how to use it in their courses. Open pedagogy approaches learning activities as opportunities to create long-lasting and permeable learning resources that both demonstrate students’ knowledge but also exist beyond the course. At its core, open pedagogy focuses on how to empower students to make learning objects move them from passive to active learners whose work continues to live on beyond the scope of the course.
The first session will explore different elements of open pedagogy and how it can be used. The second session will provide support to structuring and implementing open pedagogical activities.
This workshop is being sponsored by TCU's Community Involvement & Service-Learning and the Koehler Center for Instruction, Innovation & Engagement.
