Aguas Frescas: MFA Thesis Exhibition of Hector Ramirez
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, The Art Galleries at TCU will be unable to welcome public audiences in-person for any exhibitions or events this fall and until further notice. We will be offering “by-appointment only” viewings for current TCU students, faculty, and staff only for both Moudy Gallery and Fort Worth Contemporary Arts. Email us at theartgalleries@tcu.edu to make an appointment.
While we are sad not to have you with us in person, we will make sure you have lots of virtual and digital options to engage with the work of our students, faculty and guest artists. The Art Galleries at TCU will continue to showcase high quality art and artistic practice by contemporary artists.
Thank you,
TCU Art Galleries Director, and Gallery Manager

Aguas Frescas
The MFA Thesis Exhibition of TCU Sculpture Graduate Student Hector Ramirez
Moudy Art Gallery, Texas Christian University
September 7 - 14, 2020
The Art Galleries at TCU presents Aguas Frescas, Hector Ramirez’s MFA Thesis Exhibition. Aguas Frescas will be on view at Moudy Gallery from October 5 -12, 2020, with an online gallery and other digital materials coming soon.
Aguas Frescas thesis exhibition explores a vernacular language that references the aesthetic and material adaptation of the Mexican American working class in which I grew up and represents a society familiar to all. I appropriate and playfully recontextualize objects I have found into a form of material poetry. Working with readymade materials, I construct a dialogue between the works in the show. These objects have historical and personal meaning.
Hector Antonio Ramirez-Morales was born in El Paso, Texas. He earned a B.F.A in sculpture from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2014. In 2017, Ramirez was awarded a Graduate Assistantship from the Texas Christian University in studio art. While working on his Master Of Fine Arts degree, he worked as a shop technician at TCU (2017-2018), as a teaching assistant in 3D-Design and Ceramics (2018-2019), and as a Graduate Instructor for 3D-Design in 2019-2020.
