The Art Galleries at TCU present Slumber Party, the 2024 BFA Studio Exhibition, featuring works by Jenni Burke, Madison Hall, Jules Jung, Lane Rosal, and Phoebe Todd. Slumber Party is a celebration of diverse perspectives with varied art forms and will be on view at Moudy Gallery from April 17 – 24, 2024. Gallery hours are 11a-4p Monday-Friday and 1-4p on Saturdays.

Join the graduating BFA candidates for Slumber Party as they present their capstone exhibition, which is the peak of their work during their time at TCU and is in response to their shared experiences of nostalgia, childhood, and reminiscence. Slumber Party is a collective journey through the labyrinth of memory, where the past and present converge in a tapestry of shared experiences and individual truths. In their artworks, each artist seeks to better understand their lives and how their experiences shaped them thus far as they move on towards post-graduation endeavors.

Slumber Party invites viewers into a dreamscape of memories and emotions, where the artists translate their personal narratives into evocative visual expressions. Through their artworks, they navigate the transformative journey of self-discovery, revealing the complexities of identity. Whether through vivid paintings, evocative sculptures, immersive installations, or captivating videos, each artist offers a unique perspective on the process of growth and change.

Jenni Burke is a current BFA Studio Art major at Texas Christian University with an emphasis in ceramics. She blends various mediums, including ceramics, sculpture, and painting, to create multifaceted and cohesive artworks. Drawing inspiration from psychedelic and childhood imagery, her work seeks to enchant viewers with a sense of joy and whimsy.

Madison Hall, a BFA student at TCU, explores animal and human personification through her sculptures and drawings. She enjoys experimenting with materiality in her work and is curious about how different mediums may clash or complement each other. Specifically for this show, she is reliving and retelling her experiences of self-hatred, abuse, and the longing for emotions that have passed.

Jules Jung is a current BFA Studio Art major at Texas Christian University with an emphasis in new media. Growing up in Thailand and immigrating to the United States in adolescence, they draw inspiration from their multicultural background and early childhood memories. Through a multidisciplinary approach using sculpture, installation, and video, their art delves into the ethereal realms of memory, exploring the complexities of identity and the transient nature of remembrance.

Lane Rosal is a current BFA practicing sculpture at TCU. He makes work using a variety of physical and digital mediums focusing on found objects and print imagery. He incorporates themes of adolescence and with a perspective of appreciation for concepts such as magic, inorganic parts, destruction, alienation and urban style. These things correlate with Lane’s vision for transporting what is imaginary into a physical form, and a desire to anchor ephemeral emotions and core needs into static vessels.

Phoebe Todd is a BFA major at TCU who makes art about the unique experience of girlhood and embracing all aspects of one’s identity. Her paintings aim to instill confidence and joy in those who are struggling to find their sense of self.
