The Art Galleries at TCU are pleased to present And Dust To Mountains, an exhibition of showcasing new work by Dan Jian. This exhibition runs September 2 – 25 at Moudy Gallery located on the TCU campusandwill openwith an outdoor reception for the artist on Thursday September 2, 5-7pm in the Moudy Atrium, outside the gallery.

 

For And Dust To Mountains, Jian presents new drawings, cut-outs, and animations featuring fragmentary and dreamlike stories in otherworldly landscapes. Merging interests in cultural memory and the tension between identity and tradition, Jian prospects an imagined narrative in charcoal, ink and dust.

 

Dan Jian is an Assistant Professor of Art in the TCU School of Art where she teaches drawing and painting. Her work has been shown insolo and group exhibitions nationally across the US, as well as internationally in China and Italy. She has participated in several artist residencies, notably Organhaus contemporary art space, Chongqing, China and the Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT. Moudy Galleryis located on the TCU campus at 2805 S. University Dr, Fort Worth, TX 76129. Regular opening hours are Monday to Friday 11am – 4pm, Saturdays 1-4pm, and by appointment. Admission is free. Moudy Gallery is now open to the public and in step with TCU Covid-19 protocols we ask that visitors follow these guidelines:

 

  • All visitors (students, faculty, staff and general public) must wear masks in the galleries, maintain 3ft social distancing and sign-in for contact tracing purposes. A gallery attendant will be on hand if you have any questions or forget your mask.

 

  • If you would like to bring your class or a group to the galleries, please contact us by email to arrange ahead of time theartgalleries@tcu.edu. To meet our occupancy guidelines we may need to split large classes or groups depending on which gallery you visit.
