Chorale's fall program, O Guiding Night, O Perfect Love, traces a path from desiring/longing for love, accepting love, and celebrating love. It will be a collage-style program with each piece weaving into the next. The program includes two premieres: a setting of poetry by Paul Lawrence Dunbar written by theory professor Till Meyn for the King's Singers; and, a setting of Psalm 39 by Christopher Aspaas. Other pieces come from renown composers Samuel Barber and J. S. Bach, as well as Afro-British composer Roderick Williams, Haitian-born composer Sydney Guillame, Juan del Encina, and an arrangement of a traditional Mushwashshah from Egypt. Our program ends with a piece selected for the 2022 Texas All-State Choir, O Perfect Love, arr. by Stephen Murphy.
