Ensure your online content is accessible to everyone.

Digital accessibility involves designing and developing digital products in a way that avoids barriers for people with disabilities.

According to the CDC, 27% of Americans have some form of disability. That means that one out of every four people could have difficulty engaging with your latest social media post, email, PDF, or webpage. Join us to discover how you can recognize potential barriers with digital content and work around them to reach the widest possible audience.

Attend this interactive workshop and discover:

  • the fundamental principles of accessibility,
  • common mistakes to avoid while creating content,
  • and how to use available tools to ensure your content's accessibility.

This TCU Web Management event marks the beginning of a series that aims to educate our digital content creators and web editors on the benefits of making their projects accessible to everyone.

Spring 2025 Workshop Sessions

9:30 - 10:20: Core Skills 1
10:30-11:30: Real World Examples/Hands-on Workshop

Core Skills 1

What is digital accessibility, who is affected by it, and why is it so important? Learn the basics of WCAG standards, see some of the assistive technologies that help people explore digital content, dig into the importance of writing meaningful alternative text for images, and learn how to create helpful hyperlinks. This is a great learning module to establish a baseline understanding of digital accessibility principles and techniques.

Real World Examples

Learn how to put this new knowledge to work with some hands-on examples from the TCU network of websites (and bring your own!). We will show how to make use several of our favorite testing tools and use them to improve our digital content. If possible, bring along your laptop and a page or two of your own work to review. Digital accessibility is about process, not perfection, so let's get started on the process today.
