House
Solo Exhibition by Ashley Stecenko

Moncrief Cancer Institute
September 10, 2020 to January 29, 2021

Brochure Coming Soon!

Moncrief Cancer Institute in partnership with the Texas Christian University (TCU) School of Art presents House, a solo exhibition by Ashley Stecenko. House will be on view at Moncrief Cancer Institute from September 10, 2020 to January 29, 2021. The Moncrief Cancer Institute is not open to the public for exhibition viewing due to COVID-19 restrictions, however, the exhibition will be available for virtual viewing at https://linktr.ee/MoncriefArtGallery.

House features works on paper by Ashley Stecenko. In her first solo exhibition, she focuses on her personal experience with family. Using photographs of her family spaces, she rearranges the image to better understand her own family dynamic within them. Through a process of solvent-based photo transfers, in which she paints with acetone on the back of laser-jet printed images, Ashley removes the image from it’s original context in order to construct a psychological space. “House” is a metaphor for the homes we live in both physically and mentally.

Ashley Stecenko spent her childhood growing up all around the Midwest. She is currently a graduate student earning her Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art at TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, Indiana.
