Nicholas Kitchen will interact with the TCU students leading them through his quite surprising work with Beethoven manuscripts, showing them the much more detailed expression marks Beethoven put into his manuscripts that we do not see in print.  His work with John Owings on the two Sonatas will allow the students to see these expression marks "in action" and give them a sense of how they can explore for themselves this newly noticed set of expressive marks directly from the hand of Beethoven.  Nicholas and John Owings will prepare the performance of the Sonatas through a detailed layered recording process that Nicholas used over the summer for his own work and to help students at the Heifetz International Music Institute to give virtual performances of collaborative music throughout six weeks where the Heifetz Institute made nearly 100 on-line concert presentations.
