Preparing to Teach Online

This online course is asynchronous with weekly deadlines and runs from February 10, 2020 through May 18, 2020.

Do you want to teach a fully online course at TCU? Preparing to Teach Online is an instructor-led, online course that is designed to prepare faculty to teach fully online and meet SACS Best Practices and TCU Online Standards. During this course, you will learn strategies for designing successful online courses, building engaging and accessible content, assessing learners and providing effective feedback, and maintaining an effective instructional presence. You will start to develop your own online course in TCU Online (TCU's learning management system) and author an online syllabus for your potential future course. Completing this workshop fulfills one of TCU’s requirements to become eFaculty certified to teach fully online.

You will receive a certificate when the course requirements are completed.

Key course topics include:

  • Accreditation, SARA, and TCU Standards
  • Course design
  • Creating measurable course-level student learning outcomes
  • Crafting assessments
  • Building accessible and engaging course content
  • Communicating with students and delivering online instruction
  • Assessing students and your course
