So, students just turned in their writing projects…now what? This workshop will focus on responding to (not simply grading) student writing in WEM courses. We will discuss empirically researched and teacher-tested methods of response that balance critique and praise, enhance writing skills, foster deep learning, clarify understanding, and encourage student agency.  Our goal will be to craft personalized response styles that encourage students to 1) value writing as a knowledge-making process in every discipline, and 2) pursue meaningful revision in your WEM courses. We will also discuss tips and tricks for handling the labor without sacrificing meaningful response. Consider bringing writing assignment prompts, learning outcomes, rubrics, or other related documents to share and discuss.
