Smart Syllabus Design
A well-designed syllabus is key to a successful course. The complete and engaging syllabus acts both as a contract with students, and as a roadmap for what students should know, value, and be able to do by the end of the course. In this workshop, you will practice utilizing a syllabus rubric to review sample syllabi. We will then discuss elements of course design, including well-crafted grading, attendance, technology, and participation policies. The workshop culminates in the use of the syllabus rubric to analyze and revise your current syllabus, and a post-workshop one-on-one consultation with a Koehler Center faculty developer to help you as you revise your syllabus.
This workshop meets Koehler Center outcomes 1.1, 1.4, 2.1, and 2.2.
