An evening of conversation on leading with heart. Join L. Michelle Smith for insights from Call & Response and a live discussion on leadership.

Join award-winning author and leadership expert L. Michelle Smith for an evening of conversation, insight, and connection around her forthcoming book, Call & Response: 10 Leadership Lessons from the Black Church.

In this special TCU event sponsored by the TCU Bob Schieffer College of Communication and Brite Divinity School, Smith will be in conversation with Dr. Shonda Jones, EVP and Dean of Brite Divinity School, to explore how the Black Church has historically served as a leadership incubator for professionals across industries.

Blending history and culture, applied positive psychology and neuroscience, and modern leadership theory, Call & Response reframes the Black Church as one of the most enduring leadership incubators in American life, and offers a timely framework for leading with purpose, resilience, and community today.

This event will include a fireside chat, a reading, an audience Q&A, a reception, and a book signing. Whether you're a student leader in business, education, the arts, ministry, or community, this evening is an invitation to reflect, reconnect, and reimagine how we lead—together.
