TCU Faculty Favorite Lecture Series: Black and Blue: Understanding Urban Riots and What it Means to Be a Police Officer Today

Join Dr. Johnny Nhan of TCU Criminal Justice for the first of three Faculty Favorite Lectures this semester. This talk explores the complex relationship between the police and minority communities, focusing on the cycle from Watts to Rodney King to Ferguson to George Floyd. Furthermore, we look at the data to answer whether police have racial biases as well as from the unique perspective of black police officers. The goal is to communicate a better understanding of police motivations and the realities of being a police officer and being a minority during police encounters and what we can do to rebuild that relationship.
