Assessment of student learning is integral to the teaching and learning cycle. Rubrics provide structure and consistency to the instructor when grading. Rubrics can also be used by students to self-evaluate work prior to being turned in and to self-reflect after their work has been evaluated. This workshop focuses on learning to build rubrics in the TCU Online Rubrics tool. This TCU Online tool can help reinforce effective assessment practices by providing ways to communicate expectations, provide timely and constructive feedback to students, and streamline grading.

In addition to this workshop, consider registering for the companion workshop - “Creating Rubrics for Assessment & Feedback.”

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Create different types of rubrics.
  • Customize criteria, performance levels, and points.
  • Provide students with feedback using the Rubrics tool.
  • Attach rubrics to different activities to streamline your grading workflow.

This workshop meets Koehler Center outcomes 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4.
