About this Event
Speaker
Dr. Rhianna Mayne, Curator of the Monnig Meteorite Gallery.
Dr. Mayne was born in the UK and, like many other children, dreamt of becoming an astronaut when ‘grown up.’ However, realism set in during her high school years – it did not seem sensible to launch someone into space who could get travel sick on a swing. Dr. Mayne abandoned her dreams of space and went to Edinburgh University to study Geology instead. While at Edinburgh, she listened to a talk from a visiting professor on meteorites and realized there was a career that could combine her love of rocks and space. She went on to get her Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee and spent a year working at the Smithsonian before joining TCU.
Register before the Friday prior to the date of the luncheon. If you are not able to register online, please RSVP to Cheryl Cobb at c.cobb@tcu.edu
Lunches are available for $10. Lunches are FREE for TCU retirees the first time they attend.
Parking will be available in Lot 19 (directly across the street and north of Smith Hall). Given the construction on campus, the best way to access this lot is to turn left onto Cantey Street if driving south on University Drive. Then turn right on Parmer, followed by a right on W. Lowden Street. Parking lot 19 will be on your right. As a frame of reference, this lot also serves the Boschini Music Center. Campus Police will have 40 spots reserved for the Retirees' Association. You may also use a handicapped spot (if applicable) instead of one of our reserved spots. Enter the Smith Building directly from W. Lowden Street. Our room is on the ground floor.
