Afghanistan has been in the headlines of every major newspaper over the last few weeks as the United States ends its longest war overseas with the crushing resurgence of the Taliban in the country. For those of us in the United States, we may be asking, ‘how did this happen?’ Responding to the urgency of the moment, professors Hanan Hammad, Hadi Hosainy, and Randa Tawil invite the public to come together to learn about the historical, social, and political context surrounding the current crisis in Afghanistan. Each professor will talk briefly and then we will open up for questions and discussion.
